Spiritual Care Services

Pastoral Care's professional staff includes Catholic priests and chaplains of other denominations who are available to minister to all persons in need.

To contact a member of the St. Francis Pastoral Care Department, call (318) 966-4184. Our main office is located on the 5th floor of the downtown campus in Room 562. Pastoral Care hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm. After 4:30 pm, for emergencies, call the operator at "0" to page the chaplain on call. Chaplains will provide service at St. Francis P&S Surgery & Heart Center as well as St. Francis Community Health Center upon request.

As a Catholic hospital, we strive to minister spiritually to our patients. Unless you request otherwise, the Pastoral Care Department provides spiritual care according to your religious preference expressed at admission. to your congregation's clergy. Regardless of religious denomination, you and your family may request a visit from the Pastoral Care team at any time. Communion is offered daily upon request to Catholic patients. St. Francis provides religious programs on television channel 4, including daily Mass. This channel will inform you of services provided by the Pastoral Care Department, Chapel Services and Sacramental Ministry.

Chapel and Prayer Room
Located in the back of the hospital near Purchasing our Chapel is open to patients, families and friends for prayer and meditation. Mass is celebrated Monday - Friday at 11:30 am; Saturday, Sunday and Holy Days at 11 am.

A nondenominational prayer room for quiet reflection is located directly outside the ICU waiting room on the second floor.

Worship Opportunities

  • Mass is celebrated Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel, located behind the hospital.
  • On Saturdays, Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, Mass is celebrated in the Chapel at 11 a.m.
  • Holy Mass can be seen on Channel 4 of the patient television system daily.
  • The Chapel is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily for prayer.
  • Mass Intentions upon request. Contact Pastoral Care to make arrangements by dialing 966-4184.

Prayer

  • In-room visitation
  • Sacramental Care: Reconciliation (Confession), Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick are available for Roman Catholics.
  • Patients of other faiths may make requests for Sacramental Care and other forms of prayer and spiritual support through our office at ext. 4184.
  • Short-term/crisis pastoral support
  • Spiritual materials, such as rosaries, Bibles and other spiritual reading material are available upon request.
