  • St. Francis received the Chest Pain MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR program in May 2023. St. Francis was one of only 262 hospitals nationwide to have earned this recognition. Learn more here.
  • St. Francis was named the Hospital of the Year by the Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care in May 2023. This award is presented to a facility that has demonstrated and met criteria related to enhancing and promoting the profession of respiratory care along with providing quality patient care and having achieved successful outcomes within their facility and community. 
  • St. Francis was recognized by Press Ganey as a 2022 Human Experience (HX) Guardian of Excellence Award® winner for performance in patient experience.
  • St. Francis received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) as a sponsoring institution with an Internal Medicine program. An Internal Medicine residency program will begin in the summer of 2023.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received the American College of Cardiology's NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry Gold Performance Award for 2022 and was included in the U.S. News and World Report "Best Hospitals" issue. This award recognizes hospitals participating in Chest Pain - MI Registry that have demonstrated sustained, top level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations.
  • St. Francis Community Health Center Breast MR Imaging Services was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American College of Radiology (ACR) effective through January 3, 2025.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received Level III Trauma Designation from the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) on 10/21/21.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received the American College of Cardiology's NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry Silver Performance Award for 2021. Only 132 hospitals nationwide received this honor.
  • St. Francis Medical Center/P&S Surgery & Heart Center earned accreditation in 2021 as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received full three-year Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) through 2023.
  • St. Francis earned a Hospital Grade of "A" in Leapfrog’s Spring 2021, Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 Hospital Safety Scores. 
  • St. Francis Medical Center/P&S Surgery & Heart Center earned reaccreditation as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology by Surgical Review Corporation in 2019.
  • St. Francis earned reaccreditation as a GIFT Breastfeeding Facility. This is an initiative of the Bureau of Family Health (BFH), Office of Public Health, Louisiana Department of Health.
  • St. Francis earned a Hospital Grade of "A" in Leapfrog’s Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Scores. 
  • Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center at St. Francis has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. To earn this status, breast imaging centers must have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).
  • St. Francis Medical Center was designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, 2019.
  • St. Francis earned a Hospital Grade of “A” in Leapfrog’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Scores. The Leapfrog Group is an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received full accreditation as a comprehensive bariatric facility by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). MBSAQIP accreditation signifies that St. Francis Medical Center has demonstrated a commitment to delivering the highest quality of care for bariatric surgery patients.
  • St. Francis Medical Center has been recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana as one of the nation's first hospitals to receive a Blue Distinction® Center+ designation in the area of Bariatric Surgery for Gastric Stapling. We have also received a Blue Distinction® Center designation in the area of Bariatric Surgery for Gastric Banding.
  • St. Francis Medical Center was designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, 2018.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received the 2018 Get With the Guidelines Stroke Silver Target: Stroke Honor Roll Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
  • St. Francis Medical Center received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2018.

  • St. Francis Medical Center was recognized as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. St. Francis Medical Center was recognized as part of The Joint Commission's 2014 annual report "America's Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety," for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for Children's Asthma, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia and Surgical Care. St. Francis Medical Center is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction.
  • US News & World Report (2014 - 2015) - St. Francis Medical Center was ranked #3 in the State of Louisiana as a Best Hospital, recognized as a Best Hospital in Northeast Louisiana, and recognized as high performing in two specialties: Orthopedics, and Neurology/Neurosurgery. 
  • US News & World Report (2013 - 2014) - St. Francis Medical Center was ranked #4 in the State of Louisiana as a Best Hospital, recognized as a Best Hospital in Northeast Louisiana, and recognized as high performing in three specialties: Orthopedics, Nephrology and Neurology/Neurosurgery.

  • Level II Louisiana Performance Excellence Award Recipient - The Louisiana Performance Excellence Award is organized and administered by the Louisiana Quality Foundation. Organizations that are recognized are evaluated based on their proven effectiveness, sustainability, innovation, integrated processes and tracked results.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) Care Award - St. Francis Medical Center received this award in recognition for staffing IBCLCs and providing a lactation program that is available 5-7 days a week for breastfeeding families. In addition, the facility demonstrated that they have provided recent breastfeeding training for medical staff that care for new families, and have recently completed activities that help protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.
  • Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence - St. Francis Medical Center is recognized in partnership with P & S Surgical Hospital by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Surgical Review Corporation.
  • GIFT (Guided Infant Feeding Techniques) Designated Facility - by the Louisiana Maternal and Child Health Coalition and the Louisiana Perinatal Commission
  • Fit-Friendly Organization - recognized by American Heart Association (AHA) four years in a row as an employer that goes above and beyond when it comes to team members' health by creating a culture of physical activity in the workplace.
